Nurmijärvi is a dynamic, growing commune in
Southern Finland. Most of its 39 000 inhabitants live in
urban areas of Nurmijärvi center, Klaukkala and Rajamäki.
You can still find some traditional country scenery around the
villages, the general appearance of Nurmijärvi being
close-to-nature and sparsely built small housing.
Helsinki can be reached in half an hour by
car, and the Helsinki-Vantaa airport is only 20 minutes away.
Nurmijärvi Seven Ringettes Association, or
more informally Seiskat, was founded in 2000.
Before that we played ringette as division of the local ice
hockey club of Nurmijärvi.
In the beginning our activities were rather
small scale and the club consisted of just one team. A
part of girls who started at that time are still playing with
the club today.
Thanks to the active spreading of the sport
and, especially, our dedicated players, the number of members
has been rapidly growing. Our club is in fact the 8th
largest in Finland.
Our association appreciates good team spirit
and the power of working together. This is why our girls
are very loyal to the club. A number of the same skillful
players who begun their career in the beginning of year 2000 are
playing in our B-team this season.
At the moment Seiskat is cooperating
with Tuusula Ringette. Players from Tuusula are attending the B-
and 1-team of Seiskat this year. In addition, Seiskat
has signed a affiliate with Helsinki Ringette to give our
talented players a chance to play on national level. We
are also seeking cooperation with other clubs, because with
joined efforts we can offer our players divisions for all age
groups and skill levels.
